Introductions
Secretary's Report - 1st/2nd - Wetterling/Sister Andre
Treasurer's Report - 1st/2nd - Gunderson/Dotzler
Dennis
Stueve asked about the City Study donation. The chamber donated $2,500
to help fund a study through the Downtown Revitialization Committee to
determine what businesses would do well here in St. Joseph. The college
kicked in $12,000 and the city $17,500.
Motion to
give a donation to Fruehlingsfest was too much for children's games.
Perhaps Geri should try to get the t-shirts donated by Walking
Billboards. Approved $500 of original request. Will discuss up to an
additional $300 after the event. 1st/2nd - Gunderson/Ehlert.
Fireworks
- Litchy - they will be shooting the fireworks from the field across
from the cemetary so they will be visible throughout the whole city. It
will be a 12 minute production coordinated with music by Bobby Vee. If
businesses would like to support it - please donate to seed the account
for next year. Maybe the chamber can do their own event next year -
like a community day on a separate day to bring people into town.
Riverbats
- Davey said he was confirming information with the Riverbats. Date is
set for Aug. 8, 2007.
Fruehlingsfest - headed by Jim Graeve - is celebrating the monastic
communities, all different organizations in St. Joseph. Brats from St.
Joseph Meat Market, Jazz Group from all high schools, event is Saturday,
June 16, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Event will be hosted by the College of St.
Benedict on the South lawn of the main building.
Membership
and internet information - forms have been sent out for membership
renewals. So far we have 29 in - please renew your membership if you
haven't already. $75 for the year. Sponsorship is available in August
and November. See Janelle Von Pinnon if you would like to sponsor.
Old/New
Business - is the Mill Stream Arts Festival - coming back? Might be
back in 2008, vendors are tied up a year in advance.
Float for
the July 4th parade - Dotzler has received the information from the
Lions club. What do we want to this year? Horse and carriage - Kelly
Award Winner (Ken Heimenz) - convertible? Give out pens/pencils,
candy? Bill Wasner has trailers also. Dotzler and Pauline Kilanowski
will be on the committee. Motion to spend up to $250 for the float -
1st/2nd - Von Pinnon/Stueve. Motion carries.
Freedom to
Breathe bill - passed by both House and Senate is on the Governor's desk
to be signed. Smoke-Free communities will be working and training to
make sure the law is implemented smoothly. These efforts are not funded
by tax levy - but by endowments and other privately held dollars.
Mill
Stream Shops and Lofts will have ground breaking on Thursday, May 24 at
11 a.m. College Ave & MN Street, hot dogs & beverages.
Sisters of

Center spoke on behalf of the monastery.
