Introductions

Secretary's Report - 1st/2nd - Wetterling/Sister Andre

Treasurer's Report - 1st/2nd - Gunderson/Dotzler

Dennis Stueve asked about the City Study donation.  The chamber donated $2,500 to help fund a study through the Downtown Revitialization Committee to determine what businesses would do well here in St. Joseph.  The college kicked in $12,000 and the city $17,500.

Motion to give a donation to Fruehlingsfest was too much for children's games.  Perhaps Geri should try to get the t-shirts donated by Walking Billboards.  Approved $500 of original request.  Will discuss up to an additional $300 after the event.  1st/2nd - Gunderson/Ehlert.

Fireworks - Litchy - they will be shooting the fireworks from the field across from the cemetary so they will be visible throughout the whole city.  It will be a 12 minute production coordinated with music by Bobby Vee.  If businesses would like to support it - please donate to seed the account for next year.  Maybe the chamber can do their own event next year - like a community day on a separate day to bring people into town.

Riverbats - Davey said he was confirming information with the Riverbats.  Date is set for Aug. 8, 2007.

Fruehlingsfest - headed by Jim Graeve - is celebrating the monastic communities, all different organizations in St. Joseph.  Brats from St. Joseph Meat Market, Jazz Group from all high schools, event is Saturday, June 16, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Event will be hosted by the College of St. Benedict on the South lawn of the main building.

Membership and internet information - forms have been sent out for membership renewals.  So far we have 29 in - please renew your membership if you haven't already.  $75 for the year.  Sponsorship is available in August and November.  See Janelle Von Pinnon if you would like to sponsor.

Old/New Business - is the Mill Stream Arts Festival - coming back?  Might be back in 2008, vendors are tied up a year in advance.

Float for the July 4th parade - Dotzler has received the information from the Lions club.  What do we want to this year?  Horse and carriage - Kelly Award Winner (Ken Heimenz) - convertible?  Give out pens/pencils, candy?  Bill Wasner has trailers also.  Dotzler and Pauline Kilanowski will be on the committee.  Motion to spend up to $250 for the float - 1st/2nd - Von Pinnon/Stueve.  Motion carries.

Freedom to Breathe bill - passed by both House and Senate is on the Governor's desk to be signed.  Smoke-Free communities will be working and training to make sure the law is implemented smoothly.  These efforts are not funded by tax levy - but by endowments and other privately held dollars.

Mill Stream Shops and Lofts will have ground breaking on Thursday, May 24 at 11 a.m.  College Ave & MN Street, hot dogs & beverages.

Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict.  Sister Dorothy - director of Spirituality Center spoke on behalf of the monastery.
